Why a backloading removalist costs less
An interstate truck that carries a load from Sydney to Melbourne has to get back to Sydney. On the return leg it often runs with empty space, and someone is still paying for that diesel, that driver and that truck. Book a dedicated removalist and you pay for the whole vehicle.
Backloading sells that empty space instead. Your 26 m³ shares a 25-tonne trailer with other people’s freight heading the same way, and you pay for your cubic metres rather than the vehicle. Nothing about the handling changes — it is the same driver, the same blankets and straps. What changes is that the truck leaves full.
The trade-off is honest and it is about dates, not care. A dedicated truck leaves when you say. A backload leaves when one is running your lane, which is why a ±1 week window takes 10% off the linehaul. On our busiest corridors that flexibility costs you very little; on a weekly lane it is the difference between this Tuesday and next.
