1. Who we are
Pea Logistics Pty Ltd ("Pea Logistics", "we", "us", "our") is an Australian backloading and freight company operating across VIC, NSW, ACT and QLD. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use pealogistics.com.au or our services, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
2. What personal information we collect
We collect personal information that you give us directly:
- Quote and booking details: your name, email address, mobile number, pickup and delivery addresses, preferred dates, volume estimate, and any notes about the move.
- Business account information (if you open a B2B account): company name, ABN, business address, contact persons, billing details.
- Carrier partner information (if you apply to drive for us): company name, ABN, fleet size, lanes operated, insurance certificates.
- Communications: any emails, phone calls, SMS, or other messages you send us.
We also collect technical information automatically:
- IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited (used to detect abuse and improve the site).
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies — see Section 7 below.
3. Why we collect it
We collect personal information to:
- Provide quotes and arrange the moves you book.
- Communicate with you about your booking — confirmation, pickup windows, driver ETAs, delivery notifications, follow-ups.
- Process payments and manage business accounts.
- Coordinate with our carrier partners to fulfil your move.
- Investigate and resolve any issues, complaints, or claims.
- Comply with our legal obligations (taxation, transport law).
- Improve our service, including analytics on which pages convert and which lanes are most requested.
4. How we use and disclose it
We share your personal information only with parties who help us deliver the service, and only what they need to do their job:
- Carrier partners who physically move your goods — they receive your name, mobile, and addresses to perform pickup and delivery.
- Payment processors (e.g. Stripe) — they handle credit-card details directly; we never store full card numbers on our servers.
- Cloud infrastructure providers (e.g. Vercel, Supabase, Resend, Google Cloud) who host the website, database, and email services. These providers may store data in Australia, Singapore, or the United States.
- Insurance underwriters if you make a goods-in-transit claim.
- Government agencies if required by law (e.g. taxation, court orders).
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information for marketing purposes.
5. Marketing communications
We will email you transactional messages about a booking you've made — that's not optional, it's how we communicate the service.
We will only send you marketing emails (newsletters, special offers) if you've opted in. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link; clicking it removes you immediately.
This complies with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
6. International transfers
Some of our service providers store data on servers outside Australia (most commonly the United States, the EU, or Singapore). When we share your information with them, we take reasonable steps to ensure they handle it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
7. Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of cookies and similar storage technologies on the website. The first time you visit, a banner asks whether you want to accept analytics cookies — if you reject, only essential cookies are used.
What we use, by category
Essential (always on, cannot be disabled):
- Quote wizard state — remembers which step you're on if you refresh the page or come back later. Stored in your browser, never sent to us.
- Cookie consent decision — your accept/reject choice itself, so we don't ask again every visit. Stored in your browser only.
- Security tokens for the admin area — issued only if an authenticated session is active.
Analytics (only loaded if you accept):
- Google Analytics 4 or Plausible (whichever we're running) — measures page traffic and which lanes customers care about. We use anonymised IP addresses where the provider supports it.
- Meta (Facebook) Pixel — lets us measure whether our social ads actually lead to quote requests, so we don't waste spend. It records page views and quote submissions (with the quote reference and estimated value, never your contact details or item list) and may be used to show you relevant ads on Meta platforms. It only loads if you accept analytics cookies.
Third-party services (loaded by features you use):
- Google Maps + Places — only on the quote page, for address autocomplete. Google's own privacy policy applies to how they handle the address you type.
- Stripe (when payments are added) — handles card details directly between your browser and Stripe; we never see them.
Changing your mind
Click Cookie preferences in the footer of any page to reopen the consent banner and change your decision. You can also clear cookies directly in your browser settings — that's what your browser remembers, plus any analytics cookies the providers might have set.
Aside from the Meta Pixel described above — which only loads after you accept analytics cookies — we do not use other advertising cookies, and we never sell your cookie data to third parties.
8. Data security
We hold your personal information on secure cloud infrastructure with access restricted to staff who need it. Connections to our website and database are encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Sensitive operational keys are stored as environment secrets, not in our codebase.
While no system is 100% secure, we follow industry-standard practices and respond promptly to any security incidents.
9. How long we keep your information
We retain personal information only as long as needed:
- Quote leads (no booking): 12 months, then deleted unless you've asked us to keep them.
- Bookings and completed moves: 7 years (taxation and transport-record requirements).
- Marketing subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
- Carrier partner records: for the duration of the partnership plus 7 years after termination.
10. Your rights
Under the Privacy Act, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct any inaccurate or outdated information.
- Delete your information (subject to our legal obligation to retain transactional records).
- Opt out of marketing communications.
To exercise any of these rights, email ops@pealogistics.com.au with your name and what you'd like done. We'll respond within 30 days.
11. Complaints
If you think we've handled your information incorrectly, please tell us first — email ops@pealogistics.com.au. We'll investigate and respond within 30 days.
If you're not happy with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll post the revised version here with a new "Effective" date at the top. Significant changes will be communicated by email if we hold your address.
