The long leg between two cities, priced by the pallet space it takes up. Every corridor we run is below with its real number — $173 a pallet on Sydney → Melbourne at volume, up to 1,940 km on the longest lane. No account, no monthly minimum, no quote form.

What line haul actually means

Line haul is the scheduled long-distance leg — your freight covering ground between two cities on a truck that is already making that run. It is not the local pickup, not the local delivery and not a dedicated vehicle sitting idle while you load it.

Because the truck is going anyway, the question is only how much of the deck your consignment occupies. That is why line haul is sold by the pallet space rather than by the kilo or by the hour — and why one pallet on a scheduled corridor costs a fraction of chartering a truck.

Where the line is drawn

  • Under ~30 kg, one carton: a parcel courier will beat us, and we will say so.
  • 1 to 8 pallet spaces: shared-deck line haul. This card.
  • Beyond that: a dedicated vehicle, hand-priced within a business day.

One space is 1165 × 1165 mm, 1.8 m tall and 500 kg — a footprint, a height and a weight, and whichever you break first is what bills, never twice for the same pallet. Tail-lift is $45 a pallet per end where there's no forklift or dock; a residential end is $55. No dangerous goods on shared decks, and no fuel levy — ever.

Line haul questions

What is line haul transport?
The long-distance leg between two cities — the bit where freight covers ground on a scheduled truck, as distinct from the local pickup and delivery at either end. When someone asks for line haul Melbourne to Sydney, they mean the linehaul run itself: their pallets on a truck already scheduled for that corridor, not a courier and not a dedicated vehicle.
How is line haul priced?
By the space a consignment occupies on the deck, not by the parcel. One pallet space is 1165 × 1165 mm, 1.8 m tall and 500 kg; break any one of those three and the pallet buys more space. Our rate for every corridor is published on this page and on each lane page — GST in, fuel in, insurance to $20,000 in, no levy added later.
Line haul, LTL or full truck — which do I need?
Under about 30 kg and a single carton, a parcel courier is cheaper. From one pallet up to 8 pallet spaces, line haul on a shared deck is the right shape and what this card prices. Past that you are into a dedicated vehicle, which we quote by hand within a business day.
Why is one direction cheaper than the other?
Trucks do not run equally full both ways. The emptier leg of a corridor — the backhaul — is the space we most want to fill, so it carries the sharper rate. Both directions are printed below, and the difference is real rather than a discount we invented.
Do I need an account to book line haul?
No. No account, no monthly minimum and no quote form: price the consignment on any lane page and book it in the same sitting. First shipments are paid before pickup; after three clean runs accounts move to 14-day invoicing.
